Dining
Our goal is to make dining as enjoyable of an experience as possible. We do this by incorporating as much of a home-like atmosphere as possible. Family and friends are always welcome to join any meal.
We serve a variety of homemade style meals prepared in-house for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A variety of ice creams, pudding, jello, fruit, snacks, and beverages are available anytime, including special requests.
At breakfast, hot and cold cereal, fresh eggs, and breakfast meats are served upon request and prepared as ordered. The noon Dinner is typically a choice between two meals and is the main meal of the day. During supper, a choice of a main entree and lighter fare is provided. Substitute choices are always available.
Our seasonal menus are on a five week cycle and are changed every spring and fall. Once a month residents choose a special “Meal of the Month.” We also enjoy celebrating many national food holidays, such as Watermelon Day and Chocolate Shake Day, with residents and staff.

Transition process
When you’re ready to move in to Highland Oaks, our Social Service Designee carefully explains all the details of “Life at Highland Oaks” to both residents and their families, while gathering information that is essential for a smooth transition to residency. The Social Service Designee also consults on a regular basis with residents and families on special problems, concerns and questions while serving as Highland Oaks representative at Resident Advisory Council meetings. Council members are residents who desire to have a say in Highland Oaks policies that affect them.
To assure that high quality up-to-date services are offered to our residents, we also have a Mastered Social Worker and recreational Therapist with several years of geriatric experience to consult with our Social Service Designee and Activity director.
